Bucket seat question

I have a pair of buckets that were in a Blazer. Can I take off the passenger side seat brackets and bolt in the same place the truck style seat bracket? Dunno why they would have made the mounting points different but figured Id ask before I sent the Blazer brackets down the road.

Re: Bucket seat question

Should be able to bolt them on if the seats are the sport style. Not sure if the utility seat was the same. I can relieve you of your blazer brackets if they need a home...

Re: Bucket seat question

The driver’s side Blazer brackets are longer than truck brackets.
I have buckets out of a 70 K-5 in my C-10.
What I did was, remove the brackets from both seats, and mount the brackets off two bench seats. I know it’s no “Factory Correct”, but it’s my truck, and I like how they fit.
It’s been awhile, but if I remember right, I had to fabricate mounting points so they would attach, and then also make reenforcing pads in the floor.
Since the bench seat brackets only have the adjuster on the Left side, the passenger bucket will be on the inside. (The lever has to be shortened to clear the factory center console)
One thing I want to do, is fabricate an actuator lever system, so that I can adjust the passenger seat from the lower front near the bracket leg.
I’ll try to remember to take pictures, when I get it built and it works.:smoke:

Short answer is no with caveats. Yes, the Blazer seats can be installed but they are different than the truck seats because they fold forward. The passenger truck seat, from the factory, is not adjustable. If you were using the truck seat on the passenger side I believe you can use one of the original bolt holes that retained the bench seat. I Sounds like the Blazer seat may use different bolt pattern. The other three holes need to be re-drilled. The floors for the bucket seats was different than the bench seat floor. The bench floor is missing the reinforcement under the floor for the seats. This is important if you ever get in an accident. I would install them but expect it to be a PITA to get them installed in the correct location. A board member sells the lower floor reinforcements you will require if you duplicate the factory set up.
Cheers

Re: Bucket seat question

Thanks for the extra info. I do have a factory bucket seat truck that has a bench in it now. I do have a set of Blazer buckets. The passenger bucket flips forward, I don't need that feature. I'm fine with the solidly mounted (no forward or backward adjustment) truck style passenger seat mounting bracket. There is a member here that sells them. My basic question was can I remove the entire Blazer bracket from the seat side and install the truck style mounts bolted in to the same holes the blazer seat tracks were bolted on the seat part, not the floor part.

Drivers side Blazer bucket was brought up. From what I have read it should bolt right in because I have an original bucket seat cab.

I feel all the sport buckets are the exact same truck or Blazer, except for the mounting mechanism on the passenger side. One style for truck, one style for Blazer.

That is correct. You can just use the brackets for the truck with Blazer buckets
