Junk in the cowl

Truck is parked at mom's place, the tree has been dropping leaves. Little oval ones that go right down the slots Last year, I taped the cowl vents. Didn't get to it in time this year. Fabbed up a ridiculous vac/funnel/tubing suction device, shoved it in the vents, and it would grab about three leaves at a time, which I then had to remove one at a time. Nope!

So, I thought... what are the chances that those phillips screws would turn? Found out, good! They all came out like the truck was built yesterday. Released the clips on the wiper arms, pop pop off with the arms. Pulled the cowl. Can't believe how easy. Got the leaves out, and was rewarded with a big ancient mouse nest from down in the passenger side! Happy to see that there was no rust in the flat panel below the vents, despite my truck sitting outside all the time.

Don't be afraid to take this piece off to clean.

Maybe invest in one of these if your truck is outside all the time. https://www.ebay.com/b/Covers-for-19.../bn_7105038104 When I got my truck home I took off the cowl to get all the leaves out of there also. When I rebuilt the engine I took the dog house off and the crap that came out of the bottom of the fenders was plenty.

Remove the kick panel vents and you can really get down the sides to clean in there.

The screen is a great idea. I haven't put my wipers back on, I'm going to add the screen, I have some in the shop. I'll get up the kick vents, too!

Definitely remove the kick panel vents. I had a bunch of dirt and debris from leaves packed in on top of the vent. Made it to where dirt would fly in every time I opened them. Once cleaned out, I could actually use the vents as intended
