How many people frequent/post in this board?
How many of y'all have a look in here and how many post in this board (47-55) ???
Thanks!:burnout: |
obviously not many, lol
|
I'm in the general, engine, suspension, review and paint sections but, I always check here when I come through. Doesn't seem to be a huge amount of activity but it's good to have a separate section.
|
I check in occassionally ... but it's awfully quiet!
|
dang you ain't kiddin'! been tryin' to find some pics of 47-54 trucks....not too many from what i'm seeing.
|
Have you seen mine?
:D Please explain what a shift improver kit is ... and the edelbrock total performance-performer pkg. I've got a 350/350th too and an Edelbrock Performer 4bbl 650 cfm carb with Edelbrock Performer Intake and Edelbrock mild hydraulic cam. |
yeah alan, i took a look at yours! very, very nice truck. good job! the edelbrock total performance performer pkg. consists of the carb.,intake, cam, lifters and dbl.roller timing chain. eldebrock has different levels of perfomance: the performer, performer rpm, torker. each level has a larger profile cam and in turn that cam will need more cfm's of air (intake) so you move up to a more free flowing intake, larger carb,....etc. and more importantly w/ each higher level of performance you spend more money! as for the shift improver kit...it makes the tranny shift more firmly( not a gradual shift that you would experience,... say in a cadillac.) this takes more advantage of the cam's power band and thus gives you a better "kick in the pants"!! p. s. i like the stovebolt web-site! i registered already!!
|
Hmmm ... that shift improver kit sounds tasty!
:D I guess it's a job to put in though, eh? Gotta drop the trans? Someone mentioned the idea of porting outside air directly to the carb and I've been thinking my cowl vent would serve as a very cool way of doing that! This truck is endless fun! |
I save them up, and check monthly!!
|
alan, the shift improver kit is a very easy job to do w/ excellent results......drain the tranny fluid, and replace the valve body and filter.....that's about it! all the valve body is ,is a copper/brass(?) plate that you replace the existing one w.the new one. most kit's come w/ 3 different shifting levels.....just over stock,tow/hauling, and flat out race ready. it can be done in the driveway in less than an hour w/ no prob. b&m , hurst and several other make 'em. look it up in your jeg's or summit catalog.
|
Thanks.
:D I'll check into it -- sounds like fun! PS - Are you talking about Torq Converters? I just looked in Jeg's and under "Shift Improver Kits" they said "Page 143" ... all I see there are Torq Converters. Thanks gain. |
no it's not a torque converter, you already have one if your'e running an automatic.( they're the big donut lookin' thingy) a shift improver kit is just a different way for the fluid in the tranny to be routed (other than the stock or factory valve body) it looks like a thin sheet of sheetmetal w/ lines and curly q's.....go to www.summitracing.com look up prt. #bmm-30262. or if you want to see what else they have by other manufacturers, along the left side margin under "key word search" ....put in "shift improver kits". just look for your application.....th350,th400.....etc.:burnout:
