you dont need egr, you hvae a pre 73 truck, no egr on vehicles prior to 73

electric choke recieves 12 volts from ign switch and the power heats up the heat coil inside the housing and that unwinds it and spins the shaft in there and the rod connected to it runs up to tha choke air valve and slowly opens it, electri choke are quicker and very adjustable and simple to connect and very reliable/.
if you take one off the carb then youll see exactly how it works
