you need to understand the concept of grounding// in order for a light bulb to work it needs a hot 12volt supply then it needs a ground to complete the circuit for the bulb to work the better the ground path back to the battery the better it works the ground starts at the exterior of the light bulb housin then the ground path goes to the body of the bulb socket then the socket to the housing etc etc follow the path of the ground all the way to the battery


each and every piece of electrical stuff in that truck has a ground path//it is not just a few cables randomly placed around the vehicle
