I have had this happen myself, it was a pain, but i got all the bolts in eventually. Try getting all of them in about 4 threads, and if you get them all started, then spin each one down a little bit untill your done.
When i installed the caddy engine I coulda sworn the 472 manifolds were not the same as the 425...but it was just from heat cycling.
