I always used a 4" lift with 35's. I like the look of the tires tucked up into the body. I did have a 6' on a 75 Blazer with 35's, and it looked good too. I usualy use the BFG all terrain 35x12.50's on these. The 6" lift will need a lot more parts to make it right (such as dropped pitman arm, extended brake lines, transfer case drop, etc.). If your 6' lift is already in, and is right, I would say use it. Of course, the lift you need depends a lot on what you plan to do with the truck. If you need a lot of suspension travel, the 6" is the way to go.
