Well, you pull your cluster out and have this...
Each of the 5 individual gauges are held on by torx screws. Remove them so you can pull the gauges off...
Inside, you will see 5 194-style bulbs that provide the primary illumination of the cluster. Remove those and replace them with some LEDs of your choice of colors and configurations. I buy my LEDs from
Super Bright LEDs. I use the HP5s that give an array of 5 highpower SMD LEDs. At nearly $6 each, they're not exactly cheap, but they give a nice, bright, even illumination. I have tried many different setups over the years and I have found the HP5s to do the best job of illuminating the cluster smoothly and evenly as well as being bright enough.
I have the same blue HP5 LEDs in my Suburban cluster as well...
