To change the shaft you have to pull it from the rear (the rear being towards the rear of the truck, if the transfer case were still in the vehicle) [see attached image]. Now this is merely just my opinion but if you are thinking about actually pulling the entire shaft I would recommend removing the t-case. I just dissected my case about a month ago and I will note that it was easier to work on on-top of a bench rather than under the truck. To save yourself some trouble you might consider just pulling the yoke and pulling the 4 bolts that hold the seal/bearing in place and try the easiest step first - replacing the seal. You should be able to do
