The letters at the end of an RPO code was to tell the assembly line how the truck was ordered therefore what parts and where they were to be installed.

528aa was a monotone truck. No white roof, nor was RPO B98 Bright Side Molding ordered.

You could have a monotone truck with RPO B98 that would change the letters to 528ba let's say.

RPO U60 Radio would have different letters following that would indicate which engine was in the truck therefore where the condenser would be installed.
