Re: 67 Chevy C20 CST - The Replacement

Two steps forward one step back.

Got the dash done. Painted the cowl. Found rust/sludge in the gas tank. Bought a poorly made gas tank that is going back.

The hose was a bit loose on the vent so I safety wired it tight.

There's always something that needs to be difficult.
I took the cowl down to the paint store and had them match the paint and put it into a spray bomb.

Seems like it matches pretty good.

The PO admitted it stalled once and awhile but would start right back up. It happened to me once on the way home. I figured this might be the problem.

So I got a new tank from, a vendor, and tried to put it in. I thought it would be a fairly straight forward deal but no. The seam/flange whatever you call it is stamped wrong and about 1/2 inch off in comparison with the old tank.

I put a mark at the crease and measured to the bottom on the old tank.

The new tank is off by 1/2" which causes the hump on the back of the tank to hit the body when it should clear just under where it bolts up.

There's always something isn't there.
