I also extended my exhaust, although I had to finish it up after my wife returned.
The old exhaust dumped before the trailing arm cross member which was extremely loud and resonated a lot in the cab. It now dumps right in front of the rear axle.
Modified "s" bend to allow exhaust tube to pass through trailing arm cross member (don't mind the road grime, grease and dirt accumulation... it's been used as a truck for a very long time. It won't be a frame off resto for some time).
Pass through the cross member (this is the old dump location)
Another "s" bend to get the mufflers between the frame rails. I have heat shields coming to keep the heat away from the air management stuff (the black metal piece above the exhaust).
Not too bad for my first exhaust job. I think I'd do it differently if I had more space and time to do this in. It definitely cut down on the resonation and I don't anticipate any more ringing ears on long trips. It still sounds good outside the cab, which is awesome.
