I helped a friend install one. We removed the trans crossmember to let the trans drop down. We did not have any big problems, pretty straight forward install. This was on a '55 210 car. This install was the transmission mounted shifter. We also bought it from Speedway. You have to cut a good sized hole in the trans hump. The boot is just a thin leather looking substance and the shifter transmitted a lot of noise into the car. If I were doing another, I would opt for the one that mounts on the floor and uses a cable. I think it would be easier to install and be much quieter.
