Ha! You're doing exactly the same thing I am doing this week.
I got my wood from Mar-K and it's Pecan.
It takes forever though, staining it with the spar... thinning down the first few coats and then putting pull strength coats on, each side.
It's been taking at least 12 hours for each coat to dry (the thinned coats are drying faster, of course).
