I've used the Pertronix base unit in several truck I've had and never had an issue.
Pretty easy installation and i get to use my original distributor which means no 'clearance issues' with the firewall.
I've used them successfully on both the V-8's and the 6 cylinders.
A pertronix coil is optional....you can use the original coil if you want.
