Yes, you'll need torque converter lockup to be functional. Electric in your case. Are you going to keep the fuel injection? Computer control would easiest. Two switch (NO&NC) brake switch works as a power source.

It'll be really important that you have a good cooler system on that trans. They run hot with the converter unlocked.

I also recommend a Transgo 700 junior shift kit.
