They was opening up for Blackfoot at the time. Remember Blackfoot?

This is taking me back...I was working on the drilling rigs, during the time I first hooked up with my wife. We met on Halloween, 1980, and that was maybe the first concert we went to together. The guy I was working for had a 8-track in his rig pig and only had 4 tapes, two of Blackfoot and the first two Van Halen albums. And we heard them all the way thru at least twice every day. But it was still better than nothing. And that leads into my claim of being one of the first white guys in Utah to hear rap
See, there was a couple of black guys on our crew and they finally got so sick of it they insisted to bring a tape.
I told him "OK-long as it ain't disco!"
"Naw man" He says "This is the new stuff."
So sure enough, next day he brought a tape of the Sugarhill Gang's Rapper's Delight:

And we were glad to have it! We had 20% more music to listen to!
But back to Def Leopard, they went ahead and opened up that show for Blackfoot and did a fine set. It was sometime later that we started hearing familiar songs on the radio and we had a hell of a time figuring out how we knew these songs until we realized that it was those guys we'd never heard of that opened up for Blackfoot.
