I'm in California also, so understand what you are saying about getting certain paints. Check out TCP Global for colors/packages.
There are a few places that will still ship paint to us. I would recommend spraying from a gun, not a rattle can.
I also would pass along the age old advice....you get what you pay for.
I am a beginner and just finished painting my truck with entry level paint. It was cheap and covers like crap. Now that I'm done I really wish I spent a few more dollars to get a better product.
