Yeah, I've wondered. I would say the last decade has certainly taken a toll on the quantity. . The realization of that kinda snuck up on me as I have been messing around with these trucks since the 80's. They were everywhere back then and I just kinda took it for granted. First they all disappeared from the junk yards, but parts trucks were still plentiful. Now, even those are drying up and the value has skyrocketed. 60's trucks have now become the target of thieves which I believe are stripping them for their parts. It happens to all old vehicles, they simply slowly fade away. Just watch any old TV show such as "The Streets of San Fransico" and you will be reminded of so many old cars that you almost never see anymore...big ol' Mercury Marquis, Olds Tornados, Ford Mavericks, Caddys...etc. Back then they were just every day cars parked out on the street. I feel fortunate to have been carted around in a 1971 Buick Estate Wagon with a 455 as a child.
