If you have painted the cab already, it's not an issue as I was going to point out how colors can be different from part to part when painted in pieces. With the solid color as long as it's fully covered this isn't an issue. Nut with metallics a little different distance or pressure can change the color BIG TIME.

It depends on where you are spotting on a part, say at the top of the door where you can back tape a body line at the bottom of the window, you could just paint the top. But something like in the big panel that makes up the door skin, nope, did it plenty when I could back in the day, it is VERY difficult and not worth it, just repaint the whole thing.
