What I do is get some of those paper tags and tie them on to each connection. Some parts of the harness fall right in to place and other parts should be marked to save confusion later on. Felt markers work good. The ink in pens tends to run if it gets wet. Five years ago I R&R'ed the 350 in my K1500 by myself at the age of 60. If you mark everything and start early in the morning you should be able to have the engine out by lunchtime. I had my truck up on Rhino ramps and jackstands to give me working room and I didn't even have to remove the hood.
