I have to brag
A few years ago I bought an old shotgun for $10. The wood was broken, bluing all but gone, and the action was stuck. I kept it hidden in a corner hoping no one would ever see it. Then this spring a friend in upstate NY convinced me to let him have a stab at it. He is a gunsmith and does hand checkering. I told him it's no hurry, just as long as I get it back before either of us dies.
It came back yesterday and I love it. Anyone who knows these old Remington Model 10's knows how the action can be tricky. He smoothed and tuned that. He re-finished all the metal to original finish. No sanding marks and the stamping is as clear as you could hope for. The custome designed hand checkering is very nice.
There's so much I like about it now. I'm thinking I will build a live edge-bark on walnut shelf to put it on. Maybe even build a plexiglass box to cover it
