What he said....the early 283, had a steel hub (no rubber). it was nuetral balance, so you could put any balancer on that mas also nuetral....with the proper chain cover/timing pointer. I would drill/tap the end of the crank for a bolt, on the bigger balancers. I built a 62, 283, & have a 64....with a steel crankshaft, the both ran a steel hub.....longhorn
