This would possibly play a part for me in owning this type of vehicle. If it is difficult to drive and temperamental and can only be trusted for 5 miles worth of sunny travel...then I would consider changing the game a bit.

I have driven it 30 miles to work. Very reliable so far, you just got to leave a little (lot) bit earlier. It's fun to drive, but down shifting doesn't happen. I haven't once down shifted without grinding. My Uncle said its always been that way. So coast to the stop sign and then grab first. Going up to second is smooth and into third is smooth if you hit it just right or double clutch.
