Re: Greenie the 72 C20

Just before snow hit, I was finally able to get a bracket to hook up the kickdown cable. Been driving it sparingly, and real gentle while that wasn't there. The bracket edelbrock sells they say matches with their intake manifold didn't work...

Had to undo a single bolt on the intake to get a bracket in to attach the return spring to. When I loosened it I heard a quiet pop. Drove the truck on a testdrive around the neighborhood and all seemed well. But when I popped the hood there was a small amount of coolant on top of the intake near cylinder 6. Fired the engine up again, and it blew white smoke for a few minutes, even though it had just been clear a few minutes before.

For now I went through and made sure every intake bolt was tightened to spec. Some weren't quite there and needed a half turn or so. I ordered new intake gaskets to put in, if it ever stops snowing...
