I'd have to say that the amount of time spent at high revs in a quarter mile probably isn't long enough to empty the pan. Trans-Am racing, I'd say yes. It's the reason the Z/28 got a 9 quart pan. Then again, I had a '64 Malibu SS with a 283 and a Powerglide that I put a 4 bbl and dual exhaust on and ran it at 120 MPH along the coast for many miles without exploding it. Bone stock except for that and an advance curve kit. I bet that farmer who pulled out onto the highway on his tractor right before I went by is still looking for his hat.
