Re: Crew Cab build preview...

My wife and kids complain loudly about how loud the engine is so I will be trying to quiet it down in the cabin.
No not Dynamat, that stuff is not for soundproofing like most people think. Everybody thinks that crap is the cats-meow, it’s really just to dampen panel vibrations and resonance and past 25% coverage of flat panels there is very little noise suppression with that crap....great marketing they have, the whole world is fooled on their product. Anyway it’s NOT for noise proofing and the Cummins makes lots of plain old noise.
I’m using mass loaded vinyl (MLV) on the complete interior, it’s actually noise proofing material which absorbs sound waves due to is mass of 1lb per square foot. Apparently it absorbs the sound waves and dissipates them as heat into the material.
I removed everything from the inside firewall to install it all the way up around the upper inside cowl to the windshield. I will be lining the inside of the doors, the gas tank and under the hood too.
I will post up the results and some pics when it’s done.
I also got the mass backed carpet from ACC and a little Dynamat type product.
