I got these hollow hole punches that can be used on a drill to make holes in the MLV, it turns out they work great on the Dynamat and carpet.
I always have a hard time with making holes in the carpet for the seats and shifter boots, using one on the drill makes a real clean hole.
I also sharpened up a filet knife to cut the shifter holes in the carpet and that worked much better than a razor blade.
My filet knife hangs off my tool cart from when I used to part out trucks, I used to use it to cut belts and heater and radiator hoses. I saw workers on YouTube trimming the edges of molded carpet using long knifes so it made me think of my filet knife,
