Solid rollers beat the lifters like a rented mule, and can cause premature failure. Hydraulic rollers offer solid flat tappet performance with high valve lifts
So you can have a engine run quite a lot longer with out cam failure issues due to fast acting ramps. It's a best of both worlds type of mod
I heard about it several years ago, but it seems to be catching on a lot more now.
