To each their own regarding break in. We are firing up a fresh 331 Ford today with a flat tappet hydraulic cam and will run it for 30 minutes @ 2200 -2500 rpm.
We pre lube and use Brad Penn high zinc break in oil.
I'm sure others get away with doing less or different but this is my opinion of the best way.......There's more than one way to skin a cat though
