You may want to look into buying a complete used frame from southern states. I was in the exact same situation where frame rails were essentially gone at the cross member and the only thing holding the tail end on was the upper and lower sections of the cross member. The explanation and photos are in my build thread (bottom) but I ended up getting a '68 California frame with trailing arms and lower control arms, coil springs, etc. .... for $800 (~ $600 USD). All of it in mint shape with zero rust and corrosion, hard to beat.
