You maybe able to change the 82 Van upper section of the columns. On to your column but you will need with the same option. It's been a long time now since I see the van 81-82 columns if the set up sizes in upper tilt the same it may work. But I think the Vans columns come with the shift indicator on the columns it can remove re-work that area
it would look like it was factory. Then you could go with key on the dash or push button start. This may help try your conversion

Was a 77 454 w/308 gear. Taken out 550 lbs. up front with motor clip change.
