They must have never greased it
I have no clue how many miles my 65 c/50 had back in the 1980s when I owned and ran it. The speedometer didn't work for a long time before I fixed it. I was guessing that it was on it's third engine/second rebuild. It
could have had work done to the front end but in all the rough miles that I put on it, I never had any issues with the front axle and steering.
