What kind of load do you anticipate running in your truck? A 100 amp alternator will never output 100 amps unless under serious load. Likely it spends it's life outputting 25-35 amps.
We once had a strippo Cavalier training car. It had a 105 amp alternator with only a 10 gauge ouput wire. It was really easy, with a battery tester, to show students a couple volts of drop on that wire when the alternator was maxed out.
