They are. Down south if they don't run, they scrap them. Where i am, they still run but the body is falling off...

My 69 has a power steering box, pump, and brackets that I pulled out of a junkyard 71 or 72 back around 1990. Both still work fine! I still remember jacking up the front of a donor truck with a bumper jack, and pushing old tires/wheels under the frame until it was high enough for me to crawl under the front. Had to use hammer and chisel to get the sway bar. Ah, youth!
I hear ya. Been in some sketchy situations myself pulling parts.
