Metallics are very difficult and really tough for a newbie. I had a similar problem with tiger strips on a '92 gmc I restored.
Watch YouTube vids on spraying Metallics. Good info out there. Gun set up plays a huge role in success.
The last metallic I shot i did normal 50 percent overlap and then on last coat pulled gun back and did a dusting type coat directly after wet coat
3 coats base

I rushed also....shoould have checked my stuff prior to clearing. F.N.G. hahaha
