An easier way to wire it up is to put the positive wire to a constant hot circuit, like the cigar lighter terminal, and then the ground of the led to a circuit that is hot only when the ignition switch is on.
I have done this on most of the cars i have owned, and this dirt cheap deal really does seem to work.
