The big buck fittings where for special uses. Depending on what liquid or gas was used.
I worked in the largest sour gas plant in north america for 30 years. The cost of some fittings would make your head spin. All calculated into the cost of doing business. When you're producing a million dollars worth of natural gas a day then a 100 buck fitting is peanuts!!
Anyhow, shop around or take a trip to your local autowreckers. Look on old Fords. They had lots of oddball fittings.
