Just got home, 1900 miles...no issues. I spun that ol big Block pretty tight going 70 mph for a bit. In the interest of getting home, I pulled it back to 60-65, 8-10 mpg 
1985 GMC 1 ton single cab dually 4X4, factory air, stock big block, sm465, 4:11's, GV overdrive unit (not working for trip), no rust, 122,000 miles... seems possible. Bumps and bruises ah plenty.
