I wonder if that's because the 205 is so much shorter than a 208/231? There's a 6" difference in rear driveshaft length between the two. Also might have something to do with the 205 being mostly fixed yokes.

Interesting though, as a 205 is where I'd like to end up with mine. Guess I'll need to hang onto the two-piece setup after all.
