Look at the speed you are going when it come on and see if the light is coming on just after you reach 35 MPH.

It is out by the master cylinder and has only one wire going to it.

It does sound like a soft code is being set because when you turn the truck off and restart it the light does not come on until you drive it. Try checking the code only when the light is on and see if you can retrieve a code.
Does the speedometer in the truck work well?
Do the brake lights work?
