Of course I can't say for absolute sure but the fact that you eyeballed it leads me to believe it is the cause. I think it would be a stroke of luck to hit the exact center by eyeballing after the rubber is on.

I figured out this trick on my own several years back and it's been successful with all the windshields I've ever done.

Go back and look at my first post and see the small rubber blocks I used to prop the w/s up a little while I centered it and made my marks.
