I found and bought a replacement hood for the truck
and how about this as a testament to my Luck:
it's faded green!
a perfect match

it might have been glossy black
or just painted white ha ha ha

if anyone is interested in the hood shown in the 2 pics
it's theirs for free
it is very rust pitted
but plenty strong and very functional
you just give me a hand with the 'switch'
