A friend of mine and his dad have built show cars for years, and his dad refuses to take off the ring when he works. For him, the ring actually saved his finger. Somehow, the front suspension fell off the jack stand and the edge of the brake rotor landed on his hand and came to rest on his ring. For some crazy reason, the ring did not collapse, but supported the weight and saved his finger.
