That's not a good sign. Sounds like the motor is stuck out of the park position and is trying to get there. I would unplug it now! Have you removed it from the firewall? My firewall bushing was dragging so the wipers were moving at about half speed. Yours maybe worse than mine was.
Another possibility is the brushes in the motor are so worn that the motor can't turn to get back to the park position.
