That's what she said! Please post a pic of your carburetor, so that we can see what is upstairs. There should be a bracket for the cable to the left and to the back of (as it would appear when sitting at the steering wheel) the carburetor. You can install a new cable without pulling the pan, but all that horse hair (or whatever that is) has to be gone, or you'll get it in the trans oil pan.
