There could still be a blockage somewhere. Does it have good circulation through the heater core?
I put in a 195 degree thermostat. It was reading 205 after a 70-80 mile drive and then idling for a few minutes. I never did check the cooling system for combustion. I was planning on it before I completely refilled the antifreeze but ran out of time. Then since everything was working ok I never went back and did it. The heater seems to be working fine although the heater hasn't gotten much use lately!
