Had the same problem with my 89. I went to get the module and they gave me the newer style. Searched all of the local places Orielly, Autozone, Carquest, Napa. They all had the new style. I checked the bolt pattern on my 99 exchanged the new module for a new motor that came with the module. Bolted right in works great now.
Just get the later model motor with module.
