Thx for the reply. My first thought was, is this thing even supposed to come off? I figured it must, it clearly wasn't cast together with adjoining parts, but didn't want to make a bigger mess by trying to remove something unless it was meant to be removed. Tried using a large closed end wrench, but it wouldn't budge, may have try loosening it with a torch, I think ....
My plan is to swap this complete crossmember assy into my 65 C2. Before I swap it, I'm gonna strip down the donor crossmember assy to just the bare crossmmember to make it easier to install on the 65 frame. Then, I'll go ahead and media blast the hard parts & replace all the wear & tear parts as I reassemble it on my 65
