I think this thread already answers your question. Ditch it! The transfer case will be just fine by the adapter itself. I always removed the side brackets when present. Cracked a few adapters in my time, I was hard on them tho. There will always be the argument of "yay or nay", just like Ford vs Chevy.... Well not on this site its NOT!!!
